The Fold

The most surveilled, Inquisition-heavy environment the party has yet entered.

Overview

The Fold lies beyond the second wall of Meranthas — a wealthier, far more controlled region than the edge cantons, dense with garrison and Inquisition presence and plastered with the god-king's propaganda banners. Most of the party is wanted, and disguise options here are thin. They entered by smuggling themselves through the Meranthas checkpoint in Mira Solbin's carriage.

Why the Party Is Here

The Fold holds the Crail estate (also heard as Krell / Kreole) — a wealthy ex-garrison family of collectors who possess an artifact/key that Harland Ashworth traced here 20 years ago. That key is required to open the sealed lower level of Calthar. The Crails had no idea what they were sitting on and refused to sell. The party has come to take it — by heist, by force, or through Vivienne's family connections.

Role in Session 04

• The party was smuggled into the Fold through the Meranthas checkpoint at session's end.
• The session closed as Mira's carriage rolled in under the god-king's banners, the party planning their approach to the Crail estate.

Status

The party is inside the Fold, in Mira's carriage, en route toward the Crail estate. No safehouse available — only apathetic inns, not sympathetic ones.
